Letter From The Editor: August 2021

Published on

Dear Readers,

Hello! Welcome to the start of yet another semester at Her Campus Ohio University. My name is Lauren Serge, and this year I am taking on the role of President and Co-Campus Correspondent for this chapter. I am taking over after the lovely Caitlin Hunt, who served this role powerfully and honorably. If I can achieve even a fraction of that, I will feel successful in this role.

I have been a member of Her Campus since my freshman year, and now, as I am entering my junior year with this new responsibility, I feel a great deal of nervousness but also excitement for what all this year will bring. I am a Strategic Communication major within the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. I enjoy writing both journalistically and also creatively, which is what makes me love this magazine as it enables more creativity and freedoms that other publications do not offer. When I am not writing or reporting, I love to hang out with my friends and family, spend time outside, and binge-watch tv shows and movies.

There is no telling for sure what this year may bring. I am back on campus for the first time since March 2020, due to the ever-so-constant coronavirus pandemic. I am hopeful that this year will bring about more possibilities and that we can conduct our businesses the safest way possible while still maintaining the true nature and flare that Her Campus has to offer.

That being said, this semester will be full of brand new content from new and returning writers. I am hopeful that we will cover more profiles throughout this year as well as expand our social media platforms to increase engagement.

It’s wonderful to be back in Athens again. I cannot wait to start this year with this lovely staff and this wonderful publication!

Sincerely,

Lauren Serge
